‘Chukwu Martin’s new feature film, We Danced & Danced, which was shot in April 2024 in Ibadan, has begun its intimate release through a series of exclusive underground screenings in Ibadan and Lagos, marking the first encounters with audiences who have been whispering about its unflinching intimacy.

Written by Martin and Tomi Folowosele, the story follows two siblings, Zina (Jessica Gabriels Ujah) and Eno (Timilehin Ojeola), who have fled their troubled home in search of freedom and belonging. We Danced & Danced was produced under the banner of the New Culture Studios (its first film production in over 50 years) and Nostalgia Media Agency. Rufus Nwoko, Martin, and Adeniyi “TAJ” Joseph serve as executive producers, with Cinematography by Okwong Fadamana, Production design by Tinuola Nwachukwu and Peter Nwanguma as Editor & Colorist. The film also stars Ikechukwu Iwebenua, Tega Ethan, Chris Ikechi Anyanya, Kelvin Callistus & Temitope Agoro, Chabod Oyejide, and Ifeoluwa Ogunade, with chorus by The Golden Chorale.

Since early June, We Danced & Danced has been shared in closed-room gatherings. These screenings are designed to preserve the emotional intimacy of the film, allowing space for quiet reflection and communal vulnerability. Although We Danced & Danced is not yet available to the public, future screenings will continue to roll out across selected Nigerian cities,  UK and Canada.
